Lord Denman of Soho
University Work, 2016-17
The Lord Denman of Soho building has a design based on the historical richness of Soho, especially the area of Golden Square and Denman Street. In a 1.8m wide site, the heritage of the Lord Chief Justice Thomas Denman is distilled, as a way to protect history in a foreshadowed Soho, where buildings have been regenerated and the important information of this area is at risk of being lost.

All the features of the building, including interior decoration and furniture, are inspired by Lord Denman or features of a passage written by Charles Dickens about Golden Square, both of the same period in history. For the architectural elements related to Denman, they are inspired by moments in his life, places he has visited or property he has owned. Some of the most prominent attributes include the balcony: prompted by Lord Denman's powerful speeches during his time in parliament, thus the balcony is a place for him to project his socialist and forward-thinking visions upon society.
